Maa Tara

Maa Tara is the second Mahavidya of Maa Shakti. She is also the GURU of BRIHASPATI (Jupiter) who in turn is the Guru of all the nine planets. Maa Tara, another form of Kali, has two hands, has a longing tongue with blood oozing from her mouth, garlanded with snakes, adorned with sacred threads, and Shiva suckling at her left breast. Tara devi is blue in colour. Maa Tara holds a sacrificial sword, a skull cup, a lotus and a pair of scissors. Maa Tara is worshipped mostly by the Tantrics at the cremation ground i.e. ‘samshan’. We believe that Maa Tara is attracted to the bones & skeletons and the cremation ground is her preferred residence.
